Dr․ Ali Abbassi Monjezi

Dr Ali Abbassi Monjezi is the Founder and CEO of Waterwhelm, pioneering a game-changing orward osmosis solution for water reuse and desalination. Following Ali’s PhD and his time as an academic researcher, he embarked on establishing Waterwhelm which led him to be awarded as Scotland’s Top Young Business Founder in 2019. In 2023, the Royal Academy of Engineering recognised Ali as one of the UK’s 274 engineering icons of all time. Waterwhelm is currently scaling up its proven solution to at two sites in the UK whilst running a solar desalination demonstration plant in Saudi Arabia.
