Water Sector Leaders Enrich Sessions at the IDWS Conference

A number of water sector leaders in Saudi Arabia participated in the second day of the IDWS Conference, organized by the Saudi Water Authority in Jeddah, showcasing efforts to promote innovation and sustainability enablers in the sector.
 

Dr.Tariq Alnaeem, CEO of the Water Transmission and Technologies Company (WTCO), emphasized the importance of digital transformation in improving the efficiency of the water sector during the session titled “Asset Management and Smart Infrastructure.” He highlighted the role of 3D printing and robotics technologies in reducing costs and enhancing resource utilization, in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision.
 

During his participation, the CEO of the Saudi Irrigation Organization, Eng. Mohammed Z. Abu-Haid, explained that the sector faces significant challenges due to the increasing demand for water. He emphasized the importance of using smart systems and investing in sustainable infrastructure to improve irrigation efficiency and reduce consumption, supporting sustainability. He also outlined a strategy to address these challenges through innovation, which he highlighted as a key pillar for sustainable solutions.

 

Eng. Abdullah Al-Zuwaid, CEO of Water Desalination Operations, discussed the significance of reducing the environmental impact of desalination processes by utilizing renewable energy resources and next-generation technologies during the session “Desalination Innovation: CEO Leadership in Tackling the Water-Energy Nexus”.
 

Eng. Khaled Al Qureshi, CEO of the Saudi Water Partnership Company, concluded by emphasizing the role of public-private partnerships in developing innovative solutions for energy management and saline water treatment. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration with research centers to achieve a sustainable water future.
