Dr. Masoumeh Zargar is a leader in advanced materials and membrane technologies, serving as a Senior Lecturer and Australian Research Council (ARC) DECRA Fellow at Edith Cowan University’s School of Engineering. With a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, she leads ECU’s Advanced Materials and Membranes Research Group, mentoring a team of over ten PhD students and research associates. Her research focuses on developing innovative solutions for water and wastewater treatment, desalination, resource recovery, microplastics and PFAS treatment, and photocatalysis. Dr. Zargar has published over 70 high-impact papers in top-ranked journals, as well as several quality book chapters, demonstrating her substantial contributions to the field. Her achievements include major awards and grants, such as an ARC Discovery Project, an ARC DECRA Fellowship, the 2022 AMP Tomorrow Maker's Award, an ECU Vice Chancellor Fellowship, and the Vice Chancellor’s 2023 ECR Staff Excellence Award. She has also secured numerous industry grants and is actively engaged in social initiatives for water security and encouraging young people to pursue STEM fields. Dr. Zargar’s expertise in functional materials and membrane technologies places her at the forefront of water innovation, combining academic excellence with practical insights to address today’s critical water challenges.
