In S. Kim is invited distinguished professor of the School of Environment and Energy Engineering in the Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology (GIST) in Korea. He has served as a vice president for research in GIST and R&D committee chair of IDRA (former IDA). Prof. Kim’s research interest is in the development of membrane and biotechnology-based processes for water desalination, wastewater treatment & reuse, renewable energy and medical application using polymeric, inorganic and mixed matrix membranes. He has been focusing on UF, NF and RO membranes with novel 2D materials. He has as a founding director of Global Desalination Research Centre (GDRC). He is a fellow of International Water Association (IWA) and Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST). Prof. Kim received an outstanding achievement award by Korean Federation of Science & Technology Association (2001), prime minister award (2008) and national order of merit from government of ROK (2014).
