Dr. Mohammed Al Rashidi

Director of Energy Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

As the Director of Energy at the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where he oversees portfolios on energy, water, and climate change. He has extensive expertise in regional policies and strategies related to energy and water security, and has led numerous Gulf and international initiatives to promote energy efficiency, water management, environmental sustainability, and the transition to renewable energy.

 

He has actively participated in major international and regional conferences, including the UN Climate Change Conferences (COP), as well as cooperation forums with the European Union, Japan, and India, in addition to programs with international and UN organizations in the fields of water, energy, and environmental security. He is currently spearheading several strategic initiatives, such as those on water security, the circular carbon economy, artificial intelligence in the energy sector, and the sustainable use of treated wastewater.

 

Dr. Alrashidi also possesses distinguished experience in water sector regulation, governance, and policy development, complementing his broad expertise in energy, water, and sustainable development. He holds a PhD from Brunel University in the United Kingdom, a Master’s degree from Ohio University in the United States, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford in the United States, with more than two decades of academic and professional experience.
