Chief Specialist (Potable Water Treatment)
PUB Singapore's National Water Agency
Mr ONG Key Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Chemical Engineering Degree. He was part of the team that implemented the NEWater Programme when PUB constructed and commissioned NEWater Factories to supply NEWater to industries and for indirect potable use in Singapore from 1999-2004. Mr Ong was the Operations Manager for Bedok NEWater Factory from 2002-2004 before he took up his Masters studies at University of New South Wales, Australia.Upon returning from his studies, Mr Ong has worked in several departments in PUB including Technology and Water Quality Office, Policy and Planning Department, as well as in Water Supply Plants Department where Mr Ong was the Chief Engineer in charge of operating some of the Singapore’s potable water treatment plants, NEWater Factory and Seawater Desalination Plants. Mr Ong also worked as Head of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Management Office, which is in charge of the PPP plants and projects in PUB.Mr Ong is currently the Chief Specialist (Potable Water Treatment), where he and his team of Specialists will drive forward-looking and innovative projects across PUB, build PUB’s capabilities within potable water treatment domain including seawater desalination, and to lead the deployment of relevant water treatment technologies to address immediate and future needs of PUB.
